Hello,
I already wrote a thread but it doesn’t seem to have appeared so here I go again!

I have an interest in learning facials and skincare, with the aim to progress into micro needling, microdermabrasion, LED light therapy etc.

If anyone has any recommendations for regulated, recognised qualifications a beginner could do as a mature student who can only learn part time/weekends that would be great. Specifically online or around the Manchester/Cheshire/Tameside areas. I’ve seen so many courses that claim to be VTCT accredited but then when I look at specific courses I’m interested in then they are claiming ABT accreditation which for one place in particular I have learnt are not!

I did an online manicure course over lockdown as something to do because I’ve always been interested in nails. However it was with said academy that claims ABT accreditation who aren’t. So I’d be looking to do a better manicure/nail tech course at some point. Again recommendations for legitimate training providers would be very much appreciated.

I will be scouring the old threads for information but so far I’m getting very confused with it all!

Hi RooRoo,

Welcome to the forum, and I am glad you re wrote the thread.
I have trained with "Gateway Workshops" a few years ago in lash lifting and had an excellent experience. Fully accredited and no problem adding it to my existing insurance provider.
If I could make a suggestion, would you complete a general facial beauty course? It would be a great start. You would gain essential underpinning knowledge, confidence with your skills and clients ,and maybe help you to chose where you go from there.
Look at the options from Gateway and you'll find Rawtenstall is very close to your location. Read up about the trainer and check her skills and experience and make your mind up.
Obviously my experience of Gateway is only one course, but they are well worth looking into.

Hopefully other geeks may add to the mix and help you to decide.

Hi RooRoo

Have you thought of training in Ireland?

I’m near Bristol and I’ve done courses in Ireland and looked into others. There are one day a week courses running in Ireland on a Saturday or a Sunday.

I’d suggest looking at one of the colleges offering a CIDESCO qualification. This is a mark of quality. Most of these colleges also offer a beauty specialist diploma which offers everything you need to cover for around half of the cost of a student loan for a year full time in college in the U.K.

I visited Galligan College a few years ago and I would definitely study with them. I would suggest travelling over first to find out how practical it would be to commute once a week. Where I live (near Bristol airport) it’s very doable.

Here’s a link to the sort of course that would be perfect

Beauty Specialist Diploma Course - Galligan College, Dublin

Micro needling is a gr8 way to renew skin cells :) you could also add in dermal fillers using a hyaluron pen its far less invasive than needles :)
