Hey All,

I am fairly new to all this 'Beauty Life'. I did an advanced diploma in UV Gel and UV Acrylic Nails with Magnetic.
When i have done a set they look perfect, then a day or two after I have had loads of problems, with lifting, cloudy lines on the finished nails and in one case nails just peeling off a day after they went on. I have gone back and reread all my course notes and done a few of my nails in each and they stay on fine, but any clients i do seem to have big problems.

I know practice is the key, which i am doing but I have now stopped doing them on paying clients cos it just so embarrasing having the phone call to come and take them off and i dont want to ruin someones nails!

My other treatments (manicure/pedi/waxing ect... ) i have no problems with and have a strong regular clinet base with them so it cant be my training can it? Has anyone had these problems with Magnetic?

Thank You
Jo AKA Mia-Cat.xxx

how frustrating for you.
have you had a word with your trainer, maybe they can talk you through the process. it could be that you are missing something when you are reading the notes.
have you got the right lamp for your products, and does it have fresh bulbs in.?

Hey,
Thanks for replying!
i have called them and waiting for a call back. My lamp is a new 9watt one, and all the products are newish, as have done a few sets.

It does say that its designed not to be used with a primer, but the set they sent me has a primer pen in it to use...

can you use a primer with a system that can be used without one?
sorry for asking many questions, im kinda new to this and fell a bit isolated

thank you.xx

usually if it says you dont need a primer, it means that primer is optional.
i cant be sure in this case as i am not familiar with the magnetic range.

OK
Thanks for your time.xx

try one hand with the primer, and the other one without, so to test if you need it or not.
I know of many "primerless" systems that require a primer sometimes, always or on some clients.

you also have to consider one thing: if the client is new to nails, then it can be a cause of lifting, which is not coming from you. did you try gel and l&p on these clients or only one option?

Hello
I have done UV Gel and UV Acrylic Liquid and Powder mix and they both have been a disaster!
i must say that each of the clients were new to overlays and extentions, and one did pic at hers but its no excuse for the rest not working.
Does anyone use Magnetic? or a UV setting acrylic system?

Hi there,

I trained with Magnetic in Gel. I had a few problems with lifting at the beginning, but with practice you will get there.
The trainer I had, stated that you didnt need primer, even though they put a primer pen in the starter pack.
If i was you, I would ask your trainer to give you another demo, even on your own nail just so you can see the process start to finish.
Surely you had been doing well with your nails as you managed to qualify??
Try practising on yourself, thats what I did when I had no 'victims' left. I felt this was a good way of going through the full application, and wear them to see if lifting occured, and also gave me a chance to maintain them too.
I do like the Magnetic products, although I havent as yet tried any other system for gel.

Thanks Angie!
I dont know anyone who uses this system, not even the girls on my course use it anymore!
I spoke to my tutor, and she has given me some more help... so i am going to have a play again on my nails.. i'll keep you posted!
