Hi i have popped over from the nail forum so sorry if i am posting in the wrong place.

I am 4 weeks away from finishing my Level 2 beauty therapy but i was wondering if there are any massage courses available? I am alresdy qualified in Nail Services so i have the basic anatomy knowledge of muscles/bones of the body so just wondering if anyone can help me out please?

I was in the same boat, and I'd previously done a full yr of reflexology, as well as level two so had knowledge of A&P, so I did a course in Swedish massage which was short HOWEVER under no circumstances would I hv understood it without previous experience. There are also available yr long courses just endure that they are recognised and accredites

I know facial massage routines eg shoulders, neck & face, arms & hands, legs & feet & all the muscles & bones to go with it (absolute nightmare learning those  ) i know the massage movements but just wondering which would be the best course for me? Ideally i would prefer a short course as i think i have enough knowledge to grasp it but would like opinions from people what have been through it. Is the knowledge i have enough to do a short course? X

Well I felt confident after a short course because is done so much A&P before, but even now I still need to check back on my notes sometimes and that with 4 yrs previously studying lol if you feel your okay with muscles, systems etc then why not search for short courses?

Think i might go for it. I love massage so definitely want to study more. Would you recommend any companies? X

I'm in Northern Ireland so our companies are pretty limited. Where are you?

I'm in England x

It was many moons ago when I qualified, but the first ever course I did was an ITEC body massage diploma. It was spread over 2 years, one day a week. Very in depth with regards to a&p, and covered both Swedish & deep tissue massage.

I went on to do a city & guilds in Beauty, and can honestly say that the massage section covered in this was nowhere near enough to have given someone a full understanding of a&p.

If you are only wanting to do massage treatments as part of a beauty menu then I would say you dont really need further training, but if you are wanting to specialise in massage, or offer more than just a relaxation massage, you will certainly need to look at a specific massage course such as the ITEC which covers full a&p.

I did a short course on Swedish body massage through Therapy Training School. I was already qualified to level 2 in beauty so I found the short course proficient enough with my current back ground of anatomy and physiology knowledge from level 2. I'm actually about to do my level 3 NVQ beauty therapy but the massage route and I have to study A&P again. Level 3 A&P is more in depth than level 2 but It means you can then go onto get a job as a massage therapist in the future. Xx
