hi guys,

i was just wondering if anyone know the materity rights if you are self employed.

Having just came off maternity leave I know the answer hehe!
Yes if you have paid class 2 NI's you can claim maternity allowance and you would get the full amount for 39weeks. Its £123.06 but I think with the new tax year its probably gone up by about £1. If you had a small earnings certificate and didnt pay NI its only something like £39 a week.

You dont have to take the full 39 weeks but the option is there. You can claim it from week 31 also! It can get paid fortnightly or monthly.

While claiming maternity allowance you cant work, apart from 10 days near the end of claiming to help ease you back into work!
