Minx problem advice needed

Hi I'm having a problem just lately with my minx application, I use a minx crystal file or minx curved file and seem to be taking the colour off the edge making an unsightly white line whenever I file the edge. Sometimes even taking off half the foil and having to re apply the entire nail. I am however very heavy handed in everything I do. Could it be that my filing is just too heavy handed ? X

I have not had a great deal of experience with Minx at all but are you filing at a 45 degree angle?
