I am 18 and just starting up as a mobile beauty therapist.
I am a student qualified in L2 beauty NVQ, going onto L3 Beauty NVQ.

What is the cheapest and best Insurance for mobile beauty therapists?
I have heard you can get student insurance but Im not sure!
I have looked at capital, (Salon gold) insurance for around £45.

Any information will be very greatful, thankyou. :D

That sounds good, I appreciate your thread. Will look into it, that looks like what I want. :D
Thanks xx

Be careful as you are already level 2 qualified so technically you already are a beauty therapist and not a student. Also check what you're covered for as a student because I have a feeling it's only when a tutor is there to watch you and for case studies. Ring babtac to clarify. They are great and will answer your questions right away x

Hi @LaurenJC

Congratulations on passing your level 2! Hope you don’t mind us clarifying the great advice you have been given already by Annalise and Pinkbunny28.

Pinkbunny28 is right, as a qualified therapist, you aren’t technically classed as a student member because you are already qualified to practice; our student package covers supervised case studies only outside your college/school, as part of your training. As you are about to start your Level 3 qualification and are still technically training, you qualify for full membership at £68 instead of £89, by taking the following steps: register with BABTAC as a student member (£19), we can then immediately upgrade you to full membership for an additional £49 (special price for student upgrade) – in total, this is £68, saving you £21. Ideally, we like students to sign up when they are just starting in the industry, then to upgrade to full membership as they qualify, but in your case this is not possible.

To give you a little bit more about us, we are the only not-for-profit membership organisation in the industry meaning that all our ‘profits’ are reinvested into the company for the benefit of our members and are used to continually develop our membership offering. Annalise kindly outlined some of our current benefits in her post above, and these are growing month-on-month as we form more partnerships, and develop and expand what we do. In addition, we also have a great range of benefits to help with business start-ups, which might come in handy for you! These run alongside our consumer awareness campaign to get your clients more aware of the importance of choosing reputable, qualified therapists and salons.

Make sure you shop around, ask insurance companies what’s excluded (this is a key question to ask) and then check what other benefits they can offer you. It’s great to know you are comprehensively covered (we offer up to £6million per year with no excess), but it’s also important to see how else they can help you.

There are a number of other SG threads you might find useful:
•What Insurance Company to go with
•Guild vs Babtac
•Insurance by tomorrow-ABT or BABTAC

We’d love to have you as a member and you can ask us questions on here, or give our friendly membership team 0845 250 7277 (option 1).
