Once I am fully qualified, I hope to set up from home in the first instance. I have thought about going mobile, but our college tutor says we should always have an escort with us when we go to clients' homes. This is to protect ourselves and the client.

I've noticed a lot of people on this site are mobile therapists, so how do you manage it? Do you employ/pay someone to accompany you, or do you have someone you can call on as it suits?

If you visit clients alone, how do you ensure your/their safety?

I am speechless! What a totally impractical thing to advise you to do! In a perfect world we would not have to worry about out safety so obviously we need to protect ourselves by taking precautions but to take someone with you is just plain silly. If I were a client I wouldn't let you in, how would your client feel safe if you came with someone else?

Make sure you have a landline number for them. You can check their phone number and address on online directory enquiries, you can also check the voters roll if you really feel the need. I was mobile for over 10 years and never, ever had a problem.

Try to relax and enjoy your work and meeting new people, you will make great friends with your clients and their families! :green:

I agree with Sheila, it's ridiculous! There is loads of info on here about being mobile. I would suggest you let someone know where you're going and how long you're going to be and let them know when you're safely out of the appt?

Thanks for the advice. I think that I would get more clients if I was mobile anyway.
