Hi

I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the right place. But I'll ask anyway!!
I am currently renting a table in a salon within my area, for £50 a week, but at the moment I'm lucky if I get 2 or 3 clients a week. So I am really out of pocket. The manager of the salon said that the girl who used to be there could make a lot of money every day when she was busy.I think she left in September last year and I didn't start until the end of December, so her clients found somewhere else to go. But I have done as much advertising as I can afford, done leaflet drops, (all the usual!!) There is another salon closer to home (and school!) which has a table/room to rent for £60 a week. The girl who was here has only just left and most of her clients haven't found anywhere else to go to yet, so I could have a new client base waiting for me.
I would be really grateful for any advise on what you guys think would be best. Stay where I am and stick it out and hope my client base improves or leave and try the new salon . I haven't really got anything to lose by moving salons, Have I??

Is the salon that you are located busy? If so then I find it strange that you are not getting some of that trade.

Moving to the other salon does not guarantee that you will keep those clients. Remember that they have build that relationship and trust with the previous therapist and so don't make that decision based on that only. I recommend you to do a pro and cos list of each salon and see which comes on top. For example location, footfall, cosmetics of the salon, the staff, etc.

What ever salon you choose to do,you need to market your business and put a marketing plan together. You said that you did leaflets and it didnt work, you have to ask yourself as honest you can on why it didnt? If could many factors like:

Did you put right Headline for the ad?(it doesnt mean you should always put some sort of discount)
Was the prices too cheap or too expensive?
Was there too many information or too little?
Was there any colour on the design or maybe the colours might be too bold?

There are many factors but you got to anylise and find where that problem is.
Leaflets must work because if it doesn't work anymore, you got to ask yourself why do we still receive them on our doors?

Hope this help and maybe you got a better understanding. If you need more help on setting a marketing plan for your business let me know and pm me.
