Hi Guys,

I'm soon to do my assessments from my 10wk course (2 of which i missed at the beginning) and i was told to try and do a set within the 2 hour max (1 hr for one hand)..

i did these in 1hr 2mins..... what do you think?? They're not the greatest to say the least, but all i get from the tutors at college is "oh wonderful, you're doing really well", where constructive feedback would help me get better!

Thank you!!

Overall I think they look good. Especially for the time that you did them in!!!

The few things I noticed are, the apex on the pointer/nagger finger is a little bulky and the white is not so deep as the others. The sidewall on the middle finger need a file running up it to smooth it out, and get rid of the peelie bits under the free edge from filing.

You need to ensure a consistancy with the free edge length and shape, I noticed that the middle finger is kinda rounded on one side and square on the other. Also, maybe concentrate on the sidewalls a little, i can see it's a little jagged on the thumb, not smooth.

I hope these comments help and I am sure someone more qualified to critique qill be along soon to tell me I'm talking rubbish lol.

Well done xx

Consistency is the main thing and as already said length and shape of the free edge for a main starting point is quite inconsistent.....work on that for starters.

It's quite difficult to tell on a nail trainer from photos, but these to me look too thin and without much sructure, almost like the product has just been pulled thinly over the trainer beds and blended tips and not built with the reinforcing structure that is required to make nails last....

HTH

i think you have made a great start to your career.the tips look very well blended with a nice length to the nail.i think someone has already said about the nail shape that they are not all consistant.i think the overall shape and the apex of the nail look really good.i think it was on the last picture that it looked as if you had missed the sidewall of the nail(index finger).it looked as if there was no product.im sorry if im wrong it might just be the picture.nice work and i hope this helped you abit:)

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. It really has helped me identify areas for improvement and i've been practicing since and i'm working on getting consistency and blending those sidewalls... i read Geeg's tutorials on product and brush control so i'm placing the product on the nail and pressing it into place now rather than placing it on, and then blending it with the brush at the wrong angle and taking off most of the product!:|

I did my mum's nails at the weekend and she said i'd got all the nails the same length this time, and as i hadn't told her about the feedback i'd got here it helped give me confidence that i was working on it!

As i get better, i'll post piccies of my work as your feedback is invaluable! I've had to transfer to the next course as i've missed to many assessments due to ill health, but at least that gives me plenty of time to practice!
