Hi All,

I keep hearing about nail canes, and I know they are sold like a mini sticks of rock. Can anyone tell me where you can buy the best ones and how you apply them. How many nails each cane will do etc.

I've seen some pictures that some of you guys have done with these and they look fab, and thought I might purchase some and have a go on my old faithful nail trainer to see if I can achive the same results.

Any advise would be really welcome

Hey Molly!

You can find range of these Fimo canes in our store. I have also written a number of articles on how to use them. Pieces are also popular but I would recommend to go with canes instead as this way you can slice as thin pieces as necessary.

* Nail art ceramic canes can be used with any gel or acrylic solution.

* Each cain is around 5cm long and will give you approx. 100 pieces.

* You'll also need to get some sort of cutting blade.

Hope this helps :p

Una, just looked on your website, the products are lovely :) I am definately going to buy some!!! I have been looking at pics on here of other geeks work and I must say, they look so nice. I have never used them before but would like to try! You said you can use them with either acrylic or gel.... Do they embed into the acrylic/gel? So do you put them on before you do your final layer? I read on your site that they are not to be stuck to the natural nail? Thanks xx

You just put first, thin layer of the gel on the nail, then - put sliced Fimo pieces and make the design. After that, work on the nail with rest of gel layers.

It will take you some time & practice to get perfect pieces cut but result will be outstanding :)

These Fimo pieces can't be used on natural nails as they're too thin - they won't stay on the nail. You can of course try to slice the cane extremely thin but still - results won't be long lasting. Fimo canes are perfect for gel or acrylic.

Hi Una,

Many thanks for your info. I have been on your shop and ordered some canes. Now I'm all excited about trying them out.

When you use acrylic, would you stick the cane onto the nail before applying the acrylic, as you would with dried flowers. Or do you put a thin layer of acrylic then the cane and then overlay.

Where will they be coming from is it England? or are you in a different country, as I note the Location is Planet Earth.

Many thanks again for your help and information. I really do apprecyae it.

Hey Sally!

You should put a thin layer of acrylic on the nail before applying Fimo pieces. Otherwise, it will be difficult to remove them later on.

Una

They are sent from Riga.
