Any ideas about what this could be? Nail fungus? It's slightly tender on the end too x

You can't get fungus on the finger nails. It's probably bacteria, onycholysis or both. But, to really find out, they need to visit a Dr to get treated.

Sorry to jump on this thread but I've had to refuse a new client tonight for a pedicure as her big toenail edges were black. She insisted that it was a bruise from tight fitting shoes but then she also mentioned that it had been there MONTHS. Surely a bruise would have grown out in that time, also the nail had quite deep ridges but wasn't thick or crumbly in any way. I just want everyone's opinion, I'm scared I've turned away a client who did just have a bruised toenail... xx

Generally Toenails grow very slowly & take a year or more to completely replace.. So if this lady had bruises right near the very base of the nail then yes she could still be growing them out months and months later... It is ok to work on nails with bruises.. So long as there's no open wounds or signs of pain or infection etc

I have a fungal infection on both my big toes, im so embarrased i cant even get polish on them or anythin ive tried everythin its just not working!! Xx

It could be a number of things... A little more info would help.
Have you/this person been digging behind the nail with something?... I see this sometimes from people trying to clean behind their nails (rolls eyes)

Visit your GP or a Foot Specialist ?

Will they gove me tablets or something im so down abit it only have half a toe nail atm 😔 xx

Drs are unlikely to give anything now for it as it's seen as cosmetic. I had mine lasered. Look into it. Very pricey tho.

Also to poster it look like onycholisis to me which is not an infection so best treatment is to shorten and keep short. However I'm not in front of client do cAnt see. If unsure don't treat

It also looks like onycholisis to me. I think it can easily be treated. There are some web articles for help. :)

Hi I went to my GP lwith nail fungus in both big toes she gave me tablets you take one a day they are called fungifine I think if I remember?

I was still able to wear nail polish to keep it covered as the tablets worked from the inside instead of using the ointment.

It took almost 12 months for the whole nail to grow out and get rid of the nail with the fungus I am not sure if I could of stopped taking the tablets once the new nail started to grow but I carried on anyway with the treatment.

Hope that helps :)

Wow brill ill defo be goin :) xx
