This little festive tit-bit of news came a little late for me to get it in before Christmas, but Im going to sneak this post in just before New Year in the hope that its relevance isnt completely absent. I know that you may (or not) be sick of all things festive, but these fabulous finger designs are well worth a look.
Just before Christmas, Yale College invited their NVQ Level 3 Nail learners to take part in an in-house nail competition to demonstrate their advanced artistry skills. The competition was judged by nail industry professionals and students were given three and a half hours to complete their fantasy nail art design. Those successful would be up for an opportunity to represent Yale at next years UK Skills challenge.
Students were guided by former fashion student Lauren Raybould and developed mood boards to reflect their interpretation of the theme set. Judges Kelly Winterburn, CND Education Ambassador and Team CND Member and Lucy Ward, nail stylist, said of the entries, The results were really imaginative and after much deliberation first place was awarded to Rachael Hughes with her Ice Queen design (main image). Clare Owens walked away with second place with her Fairy Tale Wedding design and Sioned Davies took third place with her Supernatural design.
The competition was sponsored by Sweet Squared who have struck up their first partnership in Wales with the college. Samantha Sweet of Sweet Squared commented, We are blown away with the Yale students. Wow! What amazing work and what great support they get from their tutors and also from our Sales Emissary Kay Pennington. We are very proud of this partnership.
