I like to think I'm pretty aware of my strengths and weaknesses. While I'm happy to write articles, hang out at awards events and trial new products, I'm not so comfortable with shifting through scary scientific stuff. So, when I'm confronted with a problem that I'm not fully qualified or equipped to figure out...I find someone who is. Invariably, that person is Doug 'The Brain' Schoon.

Despite his feet rarely touching the ground as he spreads the science truth far and wide, he always has time to give Salon Geek the info we need so when 'Neon-Gate' broke out, I got in touch with Doug to discover exactly why neon polishes were illegal to produce in the US.

It turns out that the information was a little outdated and on further inspection, Doug has discovered that no less than eight neon colorants have been approved for production in the USA.

So there you go. You can all sleep easy tonight.

Until then...geek on!

The Ed.
