HI

I am a new member and loving the site!

I have an assesment on Thursday that I need to complete in an hour and half. I really don't think I can get it done in this time as all my practise runs have gone over. Has anyone got any advice that will help me be any quicker! My assesment is for a set of nails using silk wrap and overlay.

Any help however small would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, if it were me i concentrate on quality rather than quantity. Have a word with your tutor and explain your concerns and what marks are taken for running over time.

Good Luck

i don't know what system ur using but i did get my self a brush on resin its very quick to use and u def gonna do it very good with it...no more worry about cuticle and side walls u just brush it on the nail beds very easy...wish u good luck xx

Hiyah

I would recommend pre cut silk and definately a brush on resin.

Good Luck

Sue :)

I am doing my nail course at College and we all have to use an Edge Starter Kit. This came with a resin that you squeeze onto the nail but I will definately have a go at the brush on one and the pre cut silks as I do struggle with cutting the correct shape. Also, whenever I try to put the silk onto the nail it gets static and keeps clinging to my finger! Sooo annoying but I will persevere. I spoke to my tutor last week and she said hour and half max to pass so I will be off to the wholesalers tomorrow to get my resin and silk. Thank you all for taking the time to reply and for your brill advice. I will let you know how I get on x

If possible, see your model before the assessment and do their cuticles, etc so that when you sit down to do the assessment, you are ready to prep and get on with the enhancements. It saves a little time but maybe just the right amount to get you finished in the timeframe. Good luck and stay calm!!

Do you use a tweezers?

Good Luck with the assessment  and welcome to the site

Unfortunately I cannot see my model before the assesment but I will definately do the cuticles etc before my next assesment, Silk Wrap and overlay of the natural nail, or if I fail this one and need to re do! Skyblue I don't use tweezers, I flick the corner of my silk with the scissors to remove it a bit from the backing paper and then I hold it between my two nails and stick it back onto the backing paper with most of it hanging over the edge ready to attach to nail plate. Do you think tweezers will be better? Thank you for the great advice. I am learning so much off all you nice people

I passed!!!! Thank you sooooooooo much for all your wonderful advice I just need to pass the natural nail overlay, repair and maintenance. Now I have passed on the tip and overlay I am not too bothered about the nail overlay and repair as I am now confident I can do it. My worry now is maintenace, because when I was blending the lifted area on my own nail I took a lot of the nail plate away and caused the top part of my nail to be quite bulbous!!! I guess I need to get my technique right - whatever that maybe. So if anyone has any advice on maintenance I would be truly grateful as I can start practising again because I haven't done any since I damaged my nail plate....too scared!
