Firstly i'd like to say hi to you all!..What a fantastic site this is.. so helpful and interesting!!
I'm currently doing ASET level 3 nail technician course and absolutely enjoying it..unfortunately after a lot of research/reading i've baffled myself (and now have brain-ache:irkedwith one of my assignments and wondered if any1 can help.The question being..
Why an understanding of Anatomy/Physiology will help you become a better Nail Technician?
I will be very greatful on any help/info.

ummh... thats a strange question...we normally don't answer assignment questions on salon geek but a heres a few pointers could help you.

• when you are massaging for example you know how this effects the skin/circulation/ etc...
• so that you can tell clients the benefits of what you are doing to them
• for contra-indications

thats the few things i could think of! oh yeh, what does ASET stand for? never heard of that one! hth champagne! x

i'v sat hear trying to answear this one for you in depth for the last 30 mins and now giving up in brife if you know how something works and what effects it you know better how to treat it like how the nail grows how the blood is supplyd to the nail bed disese of the nail all this helps you to help your clients wich makes you a better tec i dont know if that makes any sence to you i am not very good at explaining things but that is the genral sort of thing. god i sound stupid.

hi lisa and welcome to the site. The anatomy and physiology is very important for a nail tech as you need to be able to understand the structure of the nail. you need to know where the matrix, nail plate, cuticular system, eponychium, hyponychium, nail fold etc is and the hand - bones and muscles. you need to know if it is safe to work on a client, and it can help us to know if a client has a health problem so you can refer them to the appropriate professionals. whilst doing a consultation you would be able to notice a medical problem for example fungal infection, you could inform them to go see a doctor who could sort out the problem, that client would be impressed with your professionalism and would return once condition treated. hope this helps and good luck with your assignment.

Ooops i wasn't aware questions to do with assignments aren't normally answered!(Promise not to ask any more questions in that area) So thank you!.. I did manage to get my brain back in gear and have finshed that assignment.But thank you to the both of you again! ASET is apparently a National Awarding Body..i've just had to look that up to find out myself!.. God i'm not doing too well am i! :smack: hehe!
