Hi all,
Can anyone advise how long notice you need to be given if you are marble redundant and have been working over a year? Is it one month according to nhf-I can't seem to find on their website.
Thanks!

What's marble redundant?

Hi Allazwills - If you want more info, below is from:

https://www.gov.uk/redundant-your-rights/notice-periods

Basically unless you're contract of employment states otherwise, if you've been employed less than 2 years then you're entitled to 1 week's notice (see below for other info). If your notice period stated in your Contract of Employment is, say, 1 month, then you're entitled to that (plus any redundancy pay you may be entitled to if you've been employed for 2 years +)

You must be given a notice period before your employment ends.
The statutory redundancy notice periods are:
  • at least 1 week’s notice if employed between 1 month and 2 years
  • 1 week’s notice for each year if employed between 2 and 12 years
  • 12 weeks’ notice if employed for 12 years or more
Check your contract. Your employer may give you more than the statutory minimum, but they can’t give you less.

Hope this helps

If you feel you're being screwed over then acas will tell you what's what and where you stand.

What are suitable or fair reasons for making someone redundant?

That their job is no longer needed

So I.e after Xmas if business was to go quiet?
