Hi guys,

Does anyone have a direct debit set up with HMRC to pay their tax monthly? I hate seeing such a massive lump of money disappear from my bank account in one go at this time of year, and struggle with discipline to not spend it haha! Thought this might be an easier way of doing it? x

You can pay into your account in advance voluntarily, you should get a sub statement 6 months in anyway to let you know roughly what you need to pay (provided you earn enough to qualify for paying income tax).

Failing that could you put a monthly amount into a savings account ready, you'll earn some interest too, not much to be honest but it will get it out of your current account and temptations way :D

I have a standing order set up weekly to go into my HMRC account. If your registered online with HMRC (think its called Gateway) then you can set it up from there xx
