Hi all,

I have recently set up a room at home for treatments and havn't got a massive space, I will be offering pedicures but does anyone have any idea's of where and what position me and the client should be in, I want to be comfortable whilst working but I also want the client to be comfortable too. When I trained we did them with the client sitting opposite us but this wasnt vert comfy for the client as they had to keep putting leg up, leg down. Any ideas??????

Cheers Carol X

Do you have a couch?
I start with the client sat in a chair to soak their feet, I then move them onto the couch, sat upright but with legs stretched out and I sit on my stool at the feet end. That way we are both comfortable.

Same as Pure, I have a couch (heated) and my client sits on that. I ask them to bend their knee so that their foot is flat for me to paint their nails.
Works well for both of us.

Thanks guys,

Oooohhh heated couch that sounds nice. The couch is a great idea but I have a bit of a problem, when I was training I rushed out and brought a couch, I thought I was getting a real bargain and I brought a flat massage couch that doesn't sit up (school girl error i'm afraid):irked:, so im stuck with it at the mo and no-one wants to lay flat on their back havin a pedi, does anyone know of anything I can put on/attach to the bed as a backrest until I can afford to buy a new bed?

how about a big beanbag?

Good idea, simple yet workable, thanks.
Ooohh yes I could buy a nice brown suede one to match my room:).

I do the same as the others, use the chair to start off with and then put them up on the couch to finish off the nails.

Most clients lie down flat with their head on a pillow and I put a large towel over them too, so they don't get cold sitting still.

I usually just stand at the end of the couch though and do their nails whilst their legs are lying flat on the couch. It's easy enough but then I'm short and don't have to bend down much, lol!

I do my pedicures with client laying my couch, back rest slightly up, their knees bent feet it foot spa, then discard of water and move foot spa off the couch, do massage and paint.Whilst I sit at the end of the couch. All my clients comment on how comfortable this is for them, if I get an eldery client I sit them on a chair and soak their feet first.

I too have a heated bed - and this is only an electrc blanket from Argos, which works great and adds extra comfort for the clients.

Regarding not able to have a back rest to put up - have you seen those triangle blocks (cushions the back whilst in a sitting up position) that they sell in magazines, I think that would look more professional than a bean bag. They might sell them in disablity shops or maybe in Argos.

Hope this helps you
Emma x
