Hey all.

Ok so im afrer some advice from business owner mummies please.
My my column is pretty full 50+ hours pw. I have 3 other staff including an apprentice another hairdresser who has 5 years experience and a beautician who will be stepping in as manager.
As I am the colour specialist I tend to be the busiest.

The problem is that I'm 6 months pregnant and I'm already exhausted. (This pregnancy has been very difficult)

Can you tell me when you went on maternity leave, did you go part time first ...what worked for you?
How long were you off for was it difficult leaving your salon??

Baby comes first but Jesus the comments that you get from clients are just rude!!

It’s was so hard cutting back... I stopped at 39 weeks which was too late. Anytime I had cancellations before then I didn’t fill and I cancelled my late night appointments as most evenings I was exhausted and my ankles were like tree trunks. I would finish at 37 weeks at the very very latest and I’d cut back to part time from 30 weeks at the latest... it’s so hard when it’s your business but I had 3 months off... if I was to lose ppl then I didn’t want those ones back anyway as they probably wouldn’t be understanding if I needed to re schedule god forbid baby was sick or something. I’ve gone back 3 days a week and it’s plenty. Some clients have shocked me that have stayed with my other stylist or gone elsewhere and the ones I never expected to be loyal have been.
I’m very lucky to have an amazing trustworthy colleague and I figure as long as they’re still visiting my salon that’s all that matters.
I’ve also had ppl who went elsewhere come back after not liking what another stylist did. Think it’s made ppl realise how good a service etc they get from me and my salons high standards xxxxx
