Hello, I have been using pro activ for about 10 months now and it has helped clear up my spots but I have some scars left on my cheeks and still suffer from blackheads. Is pro activ good or bad for my skin? and would i benefit from some microdermabrasion? Could any1 recoomend some good cleansers ,toners , moisterisers etc that aren't too pricy and im only 20.

Thankyou Guys xx

Hi Im not a skin geek but I have acne probems so tried lots of things! Microdermabrasion was really gd for my blackheads and little scars but didnt clear my skin of spots. also i had a mild chemical peel which was gd as well. It can turn out very expensive. I have just recently ordered pro-active as i have not tried it but somebody told me about it, hopefully that may help my skin. xxx

Hi a couple of years ago i was on holiday in the carribean (wish i was there today)! i saw this advert on the television wrote down the web address and ordered the 4 or 5 step range for my daughter who was suffering quite badly at the time with spots and blackheads, she used pro activ for about 3 months i would say and it did work , However it is very strong and drastically dried out her skin to begin with but that did seem to settle after the first couple of weeks. So i would say its worth a try i know if your not happy you can send the bottles back even if you have used it and get a full refund. I would also say as it did seem quite strong maybe don't use it over a really long period of time perhaps just to get things under control. Hope this is of some help X

Hi love!

I used proactive for 9 years and it did a wonderful job of clearing up acne and creating some elasticity in my skin. It does not get rid of scars, although it can help to lighten them up as the product has a bleaching component in it. I also ended up with more blackheads as the abrasive in the product would sometimes get into my pores. Those were easy to get rid of however - so I was very pleased with the results.

Is pro-active safe for those with rosacea?
Most acne products aren't............. but just wondered... anyone know?

Proactive would be too harsh for clients with rosacea, as it is high in Benzol peroxide (the cleanser also has a granular exfoliating scrub inside which would irritate the condition).

For a client with acne (this goes if they have rocasea as well), I would recommend a mild cleanser, an enzymatic exfoliant (NON-granular! and NO scrubs!), an oil-free moisturiser, and a hydrating serum (since many acneic clients tend to actually dry out their epidermis - rehydrating the skin will also aid in fading scars). A clay based mask once or twice a week can be benificial as well.

**The key with acne is to NOT overwash/over apply product. Taking Vit A and Zinc helps as well.

HTH :)
