The brushes you use for make-up, can make a huge difference to the end result so I say that it is money well spent. Cheap brushes fall apart, don't produce smooth or well blended make-up and the hairs moult constantly.

Rather than going for a particular brand of brush, I can recommend purchasing different brands for different jobs. This way you end up with a versatile range of brushes eg. MAC 208 for gel eye liner (it is fab for precision results), Screenface large and small defining brushes (great for blending shadows in the right places), Ruby and Millie concealing brush, Bodyshop Foundation brush etc....

Start of with one brush for each job, eg. one lip brush, one sheek brush and so on, and then as budget allows, add on so that you have a wide range of brushes for your make-up jobs.

I can also recommend 'Brush Off' sold by Ellisons for quick and easy brush sanitation between clients in the same job eg. wedding party. It doesn't leave the brushes wet.
