Hi there hope you guys can help answer a question for me.
I know there are different reasons that can cause lifting but my main question is if the lifting is down to insufficient prep how quickly would the lifting appear?
When I get lifting from time to time on some of my own nails it doesn't appear until the end of the first week of the start of the second week.
I know from trial and error that if I apply product to thick or to thin in zone 3 lifting can occur in a matter of days.
Am I just being to rough on my nails or wearing them a little to long?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated in order to help me eliminate this problem.

sometimes it can be down to wearing your nails too long causing a see-saw affect...more pressure on the ends would could cause lifting on the other end iykwim.....i wear mine quite long and i am used to using them a different way so i dont get this anymore ......
If you are sure it isnt your prep ???

if the lifting is down to insufficient prep how quickly would the lifting appear? If you are touching the skin with your l & p then your lifting will occur as soon as product has cured.
When I get lifting from time to time on some of my own nails it doesn't appear until the end of the first week of the start of the second week. This sounds more like the enhancements are too long and the see-saw effect is kicking in over time.
I know from trial and error that if I apply product to thick or to thin in zone 3 lifting can occur in a matter of day. Too thin shouldn't cause lifting but it will cause other problems, too thick will cause lifting again because of the see-saw effect. Too heavy!
Am I just being to rough on my nails not necessarily or wearing them a little to long? how long are you wearing them?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated in order to help me Ellison, are you using cuticle remover (not eraser) and how are you using it? Could you give us a rundown of your prep?

Hope this helps:)

here goes this is my prep...
apply cuticle remover
spreed with cruet
leave for about 5 minutes
quick tidy up of free edge and side walls
gently push back cuticle
remove thin layer of skin paying attention to side walls and corners
remove cuticle remover with soapy water spray
remove shine with koala buffer
use kango for side walls if needed
scub fresh as if removing red nail polish
and then away I go (start to apply product)

Ive had my eyes tested twice now... and apparently I can see:eek:
so Ive bought a good lamp.

My natural nails underneath are long so I wear my O/L long may be its this or am I going wrong some where during my prep ?

Prep sounds perfect!

If they are overlays, they should be particularly strong - all that nailplate for the l & p to adhere to!

Let's explore what else it could be!

How long are you wearing them?
What brush are you using?
Are you pressing (with a little pressure) the beads on to the nailplate (as opposed to brushing)?
Is your lifting all the way up to zone 1, or just in zone 3?
Are you leaving a slight margin between the product and the eponychium?
Are you possibly touching the skin with your brush?

Hi fiona,
sorry for butting in on this thread... i also have this trouble at times..but i normally wear my nails quite short ( they are very long for the first time)...
I am confused.. i thought we were ment to use cuticle eraser..with the AHA's...
thanks

Cuticle Eraser (with AHA's) or Cuticle Remover (runny gel in a bottle!) are both good to use for your prep. Cuticle Remover needs rinsing with a water/citrusoak mix before application, Cuticle Eraser is removed with Scrubfresh.

CR is more cost effective, but it's preference really......

Prep sounds perfect! That's because I was thought by the best teachers.

If they are overlays, they should be particularly strong - all that nail plate for the l & p to adhere to! Would this still be the case even if I some time wear tips on top?

Let's explore what else it could be!

How long are you wearing them? Some times half pink & half white I know It should only be 1/4 white & 3/4 pink :smack:but its only my nails and I like them and If I use an opaque pink I make a mess of the hand I cant do very well.
What brush are you using? I'm sure its the pro styler the one which had the green writing on it.
Are you pressing (with a little pressure) the beads on to the nail plate (as opposed to brushing)? Yes I press press press then brush over softly to smooth it over into zone 2.
Is your lifting all the way up to zone 1, or just in zone 3? Its only ever in zone 3 never at the top just the corners now that I think about it, more often than not if I get lifting it always seems to be at the left corners so maybe I am touching the skin ever so slightly at that side.
Are you leaving a slight margin between the product and the eponychium?
Are you possibly touching the skin with your brush?
Yes I always leave a small mm gap at the eponychium but as I'm left handed maybe I'm taking the product just a little to far over at the left side walls?

You can let me know what you think but next time I will pay more attention to the left corners when applying and see if this stops the lifting as doesn't happen all the time only some times.

Thanks again Fiona its just like having a second mum to turn to for help and advice when it comes to nails xx:hug:
ps Ive started messing around with Kenny's feet so as soon as I can touch them with out my pink marigolds I will be back to see you. xx

i find if i use cuticle remover i get more litfing, almost like it still is on the nail plate no matter how much a scrub fresh or water. why is this , does anyone else find this?

Don't know if this will help but have you tried
applying cuticle remover
leave for 5 minutes
remove with a bottle of spray soapy water before you remove the layer of cuticle skin then by the time you remove the shine from the nail plate and scrub fresh the nails all traces of the cuticle remover should be removed.

Ah, thanks Yvette! Been looking for the answer to this question for ages! :clings: If you were to use Cuticle Eraser in place of Cuticle Remover, will you leave it for a minute, use a curet, and remove, as you would with Cuticle Remover? Is the removed cuticle as visible when it's removed as when you use CR? (Hope that makes sense!) Just curious, really...
