Hi,

I completed training in shellac a year ago and after experimenting with stamps I am starting to try simple freehand nail art. Sometimes I see things and I'm not sure how I would recreate it.

This is a really simple one, but how would I do this with shellac and loose glitter without loads of layers of colour, topcoat, etc.

Thanks [emoji4]

I'm not 100% sure about how to do this with shellac, but it can't be too different than with polish in which you paint one colour as the base colour then use striping tape to section off part of the nail to paint the second colour. In polish, I'd do the gold as a base colour and paint black on top of it. X

Try:
Base coat
2 coats of gold all over + cure
1 coat of dark
Wipe away with a suitable brush to show the gold + cure
1 coat of dark carefully applying up to your new 'smile' line + cure
Top coat all over + cure + wipe with disperse

I'm sure I've seen a you tube video that does this design?!

Edit:
Yep - found it. It's by Liverpool lashes

hope the link works

This is what I thought but wouldn't four colour layers be too thick and peel?

I will have a watch of the video later. Thank you ever so much.

You would think that 4 layers might be a bit much but it is fine !
If your gold gives good coverage then you might be able to get away with one coat but I think it is better with two .

I do some French effect nails with this many layers and they stay on well, no prob. Just keep your layers thin. Practice on plastic nails to get the hang of it first.

One to try:
Base coat
Glacial mist all over + cure
Blue rapture & wipe away to show tip + cure
Blue rapture + cure
Add sticker motif if desired
Top coat + cure + disperse

Have fun!
