Removing Hair Extensions

Hi All, Im new to this forum, as you probably guessed, I have hair extensions in at the moment and I really need them removed (as a matter of ugency) my hair extensionist that applied them I can no longer contact..so im not very happy! I live in Oxfordshire and would preferably need someone to travel to me, can anyone recommend someone to me, that is local really, i would like to go on recomendation if I can..if there is anyone that would do this please do pm me...

I Have Had Hair Extensions On My Hair, (raccoon)but I Did Not Have To Go To A Salon To Have Them Removed.

If You Have The Gel Bonded Type (i Did) You Can Buy A Product From Sally Which You Put On The Bonds And They Melt And Then Hair Extension Slide Off Your Hair. The Product Is Like On Oil, But I Cannot Remember The Name. I Know They Still Stock It Though.

Some Other People Said To Use Acetone On The Bond To Melt Them But I Would Not Recommend This As It Is Harsh And Will Probably Damage Your Hair.

The Job Is Messy And Takes Time, I Sat In The Shower Cubicle For Ages With A Glass Of Wine.

Comb Conditioner Through After Too.

Hi I , would second what Bagpuss says too,

I would have loved to remove your extensions for you professionally,
but I am too far away :hug: x

Also acetone is used for some types of bond removal within a professional mix, all depending on the manufactures make and instructions ,
and if used by a professional it will not damage your hair at all :hug: x

Thank you very much everyone for your replies..I really do want to get them removed professionally, as I love my hair too much im scared it will be damaged!! lol.. its such a shame really that the person who applied my extensions is not contactable

Again though as i am so desperate to have them removed (my roots are horrendous lol) if anyone does know of someone please please get in touch!!

Minky - are you able to recommend anyone nearer to me? Also what sort of price would I look at paying?..have been quoted £60 for removal, by a mobile extionist and have been quoted £100 by a saolon!!

Hi , Well I would say a payment of around 50 to 60 for removal sounds ok,
A 100 seems a little steep but then I suppose it depends on what removal system they may have to use,
plus the time it takes to remove them ,

Ps , a few of your your local colleges may do them for you at a decent price ,
(well worth a phone call)
A lot of colleges now do hair extensions and the students are all very well supervised .

I Would Recommend A Professional To Remove Them Do Not Remove Your Self As Damage Can Occure Im In Manchester So Im Unable To Help Soz

When I Used The Product From Sally To Remove The Hair Extensions It Did Not Damage My Hair In Any Way As It Is Oil Based, But It Probably Helped As I Trained Doing Hair At The Same Time As Doing Beauty

As a professional i would never advise anyone who isn't trained to remove there own nail enhancements....i don't see this as being any different.

Extensions Hell
Arghh im in a mess ladies :cry:

Ive been wearing extensions on and off for about a year and half now, i recently took out my set of extesions which were put in by glue. My mum put them in for me i bought them from a hair shop. And ive used the remover to try and get out the glue but it just wont work!! And i just have some clumps in my hair with glue in and i dont know what to do can anyone give any advice or help? cos its ruining my hair soo much ill never be having them again xxx

Thank you very much for all your help on this, it really did help me to come to my decision, I have a hair appointment on Monday to get my roots sorted out (as with the extensions my hair has grown so much! and desperately needs colouring lol) so I was in a rush to get them removed, after being messed around by someone who said she would remove them and then did not bother turning up! so went to a salon today and they removed one and said that they would not remove them as this one was very hard to take out, she even told me that I was best to take them out myself with acetone - How unprofessional!!

I then went to another salon, my friend used to work there and they were excellent so professional and said they were no problem to take out!!

It really did make me angry that the person that did my hair extensions did not give me any aftercare advice - just a website in which to purchase shampoo and conditioner, she did not even tell me what make of shampoo and conditioner to use, how to wash my hair! I had to work all of this out myself, although not too hard, I think of everyone else that also has this problem, I should also of been able to contact her, tried emailing about 10 times in the past 3 weeks! I feel for everyone else that has had extensions applied by this woman!

I am just glad that there are so many people like all of you who have helped me out that do a professional job and give great aftercare! There should be some kind of regulations to this!

Unfortunately it has really put me off ever having hair extensions again, which is sad because I really loved mine but am not willing to pay £600 to have them done in the salon that I am having them removed by!

Sorry for the rant, just wanted to get my veiw across, I am sure there are many more people who feel exactly the same!

i always give out after care advice during a consultation for hair extenstions and how to look after them while they are in :hug: eg shampooing ect and if they have any problems i give out my number to call retail is available if required that i highly recommend then i leave it to the client if they require the advice:smack:i also give them a call to see how they a managing them a couple of days later

That sounds so much more professional! Well I have now had my hair extensions removed in a salon and they were excellent! Could not have been any nicer! they gave my hair a nice conditioning treatment and its great now looking very good! Feels very strainge though!!

Thay are actually going to give me a receipt and have kept some of my hair that was in bad condition (the extension hair) and I will be sending this to the lady who did my hair - as I have her address and she has not been responding to emails, just to show her how much it has cost me and also how bad condition the extensions were in! I doubt that I will get a reply but it may make her think twice about how she runs her business! x

do you no who supplies her mine is balmain they l00 percent gaurntee for six month and i can call them anytime if need be if you do not like it:smack: iv never had a client come back to me tho

Thanks for that! It was American Dream hair...do you know if its meant to be any good? I had not heard of it and used theiir shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner, so it is not like i never looked after it properly! It just go's to show that you do your job properly which is good to hear!!

I have raccoon hair extensions in, I went to my hair dresser to have them taken out as I have had them in for 3 months and she said that she didnt have time and that I could do it myself. This annoyed me because I don't have a clue what to do, but on the advice of the above post, I have gone to Sallys and brought the oil that is mentioned. Hopefully this will work for me, as much as I love my hair I think its time for it to be taken out as I am having more bad hair days than good!

Just wondering if anyone could give me an estimate on how much time they will take to come out? I want to take them out tonight if possible.

I would agree....You need to have a pro take them out. If you take them out wrong you could lose some hair.
