I'm trying to rent a chair out to a hairdresser with a clientele - I just haven't got the hairdresser yet!!!!

I put an advert in the local paper and heard nothing from it. Put something on Gumtree and heard nothing. I googled chair to rent stirling and all that came up was the adverts I have already put online! So I know if someone was to search they would find my ad. I've also got something in the window of the salon. All I've had is young girls who are about to qualify at level 2 wanting it, but I explain to them I can't give them a clientele and they have to pay whether they make any money or not and this puts them off.

Have I missed something? Just found out the salon I used to work in has someone renting a chair and it's bugging me more, why doesn't anyone want me?!:cry::cry:

Have you advertised on here in the recruitment section?that's how I found my room.Good luck hun,am sure someone will be interested soon.xx:hug:

I had advertised before but had nothing from it, I've just put on a new ad now :) thank you xxx

The stylist your looking for will also be carrying a hen's tooth! They are phenominally rare. Your best bet are salons that are about to close down. The owners of those are generally the ones into chair rent.

I had a client tell me that a guy she knows who used to own a salon in the town was asking her if i was renting chairs and she said no so now he has somewhere else....GRRRRRRR

Thanks xx

So sneaky sneaky ring him up and offer him better!

hahaha well that would be very very sneaky!! I am seeing the client today so i might ask her about it...

i need to harden up! LOL

Sad to say.... but yes

It's weird isn't it... you read so many people here saying that they want to rent a chair, or a room or a nail desk but when you advertise these, everyone goes quiet. I've been advertising a nail desk and room since December... some interest but then they always back away when the time comes to commit. No, I can't guarantee that they'll be constantly be busy and I can't guarantee clientele which is why the rents are low... going self-employed is always going to be taking a chance a bit.

Ooops... I nearly started ranting in the middle of your thread then... Just wanted you to know that I think it takes a bit of time.

I think we have to be patient.

Sxx

I have found it tricky to rent space/ chairs etc. There can never be a cast iron guarantee and lets face it, you don't make enough out of them to warrent the amount of help they want in client building. I prefer to employ in my salons.

I've got a girl who is very nearly finished college working with me on Fris and Sats already, she will start full time in June but she's doing loads of extra training with me too, so we are focussing on getting her new clients now that I am getting a steady flow of clients. Would just be ideal to get someone renting a chair...wait and see. I'll talk to that client about the other guy on Sat and maybe have a little bit of invcesigation work :D xxx

I have one chair renter and the rest employed. I would say don't do it! They have the right to come and go as they please, do as they please and if they leave they have the right to up and go with the clientèle (bearing in mind you may lose some of yours to them). They also can decide what products and services to provide. So, say they are using a sub-standard colour they are using and clients complain out of the salon they normally tar the salon not the stylist!

Believe me, it is more hassle than it's worth. You also have to consider the legal loops with Tax and VAT. If they decide the renter is more like an employed member they will sting you for tax. My accountant is always banging on about this.

Employing gives you (slightly) more control. :)

Hi are you still considering renting the room if so how much were you thinking and what are the terms i am looking for something like this could you let me no where about you are aswell.

Thanks
