Hi,
I have been in tears since leaving the hairdressers on Sat afternoon. I am going to go back on Monday morning, but not sure if there is anything that can really be done.
My hair for a long time was bleached blonde and toned. As I have dark brown roots I am in the hairdressers quite often. So I decided that I would go back to having blonde foils instead of bleaching and toning the roots. So the hairdresser has done reverse foils that match into my natural hair colour so that I could just have blonde foils every 8 weeks instead. But my hair has that many dark foils in that it now looks like it is salt and pepper grey. My husband nearly died when he saw my hair. My six year old says I look like I have old lady hair. So it looks nothing like a blonde colour but a dark grey colour with white (where it used to be blonde) areas. To make things worse where the roots were blonded with some of the foils it is actually a ginger orange colour. There is also stripped bits and bits where colour has bled.:cry::cry::cry:
Don't know what to do. I still wanted to be blonde but having foils instead of full scalp bleach. I don't want to loose my hair. Am I going to have to completely dark or is there a way to get rid of the colour?? Just worried as my hair isn't in the greatest condition due blonde colour. I really didn't want to return to being dark in colour and will be furious if I have to. I have long hair so I would prefer to go darker and keep hair long than have to cut hair short to. Don't know what my options are. I don't even know if I trust the hair salon to reverse/repair, re-colour etc.
Please help...devistated and worried.:cry::cry:

Oh crikey poor you. I am NOT a pro, just another gal with long hair who's had many hair accidents one of which left me looking like Morticia from the Adams family.....I naturally have very dark hair and a similiar thing happend to me about 14 years ago. I refused to go back to the people that naffed it up in the first place and took myself to Boots and kept buying wash in/out colour foams in very light brown until my hair was in good enough condition to be rectified. Not the ideal solution but desperate times called for desperate measures. I hope you get this sorted, its horrible when you feel your hair's a mess. Hugs V x

ok, first of all have you spoken to the salon owner/ manager? If they did the colour in the first place then I would def NOT go back there. What has happened primarily is that too much of a contrast between the blonde and brown has happened. Even hair that looks normal pale blonde as an all over colour will look stark white sitting next to brown hair. Without going into too much techie detail, as I'm not sure what products are used there, your stylist has to either lift the brown a touch or tone the remaining blonde down a shade. I would say poss both but without seeing it for myself its impossible to tell you if the brown is too dark. The brown will wash out a hell of a lot quite quick as it has been applied to porous hair.
Anyway yours is a solvable problem and there is absolutly NO reason to get your hair cut short. If all else fails grab a flight to London!

hi i agree with persianista.. i think they should defo correct your hair for you free of charge thats if you want go back ther!!! its not ideal to go buyin box dyes cause you might just make it worse and would then be harder to get it back to how you want your hair' and would then be more damage upon your hair. hope you feel beter monday? let us know how it goes.

Hi PolishedAussie yes, It will wash out and lighten up soon as bleached blonde hair is porous hair
then perhaps when it has a washed out a little ,
and because the roots are gingery
it may be easier for you to get the roots done back blonde again just for now

because each time you get your roots done with bleach
once the timing is complete and the bleach gets shampood off
the bleach in the shampoo worked through the rest of the hair will lift the grey from it each time its done
and it will soon be looking back to normal

but do go to a good hairdressers where they can assess this for you first

as persianista said we cannot see it to say for certain ,

 hope this made sense

heres alink to a similar problem http://www.salongeek.com/hair-geek/92529-please-can-good-colourist-help-me.html

Hi all,
Thanks for your responses.
Thought I would give you a quick up date. Went in there this morning - 9am when they opened and they have booked me in at 12.15 for colour correction. Feeling sick. The lady who did my hair was the manager of the shop (it is a reputable hair dressing chain) and she is not there today, so the other hairdresser is going to do it. They have my hair history etc on the record card. If this doesn't work may have to buy a wig.
I have photos that I will post later. Mortica from the adams family is exactly what it looks like. Just sent the photo to a friend and she is like...oh my God.
Wish me luck...I think I am going to need it.

I hope you get the result you want, let us know how you get on !

good luck

Hi all,
Well I have been back from my colour correction. Still not thrilled but definately improved from earlier. I am now a slightly lighter shade of grey. I have placed a before my colour foil reversal and after photo in my profile section. Yes, I look like a blue heeler (don't know if that is an Aussie dog breed, but they have hair that colour). Suspecting that I am going to have to endure a few months of Mortica Adams, Tina Turner and Storm (from Wolverine) jokes.
Well what they have done so far is put a colour remover on for a period of time to take the dark colour out and then put in a more golden toner. I was so mad when they said if I wanted my hair blow dried then they would charge me extra. It is the middle of winter here at the moment I'm not going to go around with soaked hair. How else can I tell what colour my hair is?? I wouldn't need it blow dryed if it hadn't been botched. I'm upset enough as it is I don't need something else to send me over the edge!
I think that I am going to see a specialised colour corrector. I have a feeling that it may take months to get it back to a nice colour.
I guess at the end of the day, I still have hair and it isn't green!! It is just a shame that its salt and pepper grey (the one colour that 99% of women dye their hair to get rid of and I get it dyed that colour).:cry::cry:

you poor thing, this kind of problem really needent happen. please find a great colourist to sort it out for you.x

Hi again,
Well I thought that I would give a quick up date on what is happening with my hair. Been to a couple of other hairdressers for a consultion now and I have been advised on both occasions that my options are very limited. They can either darken it so it is all over darker colour, or leave it as they can't put bleach on due to condition of my hair. So I have decided to go darker.:irked: Persianista I wish that I was in London so you could sort it out!
So booked in tomorrow at 1.15. Just preparing myself mentally. Although I know it will look 10x better than it is now, I just didn't want to have dark hair so very annoyed that I have to splash out another couple of hundred dollars to fix it.

Hi, before you go dark..... would you think of having some blonde extensions
in golden beiges and a lighter blondes put through the top parts
just until it washes lighter ?
or even after you have gone dark when it washes a bit lighter you could have a few blonde extensions put through just so you wont feel as dark
