hi guyz ! plzzzzzzz dont get annoyed by yet another itec vs vtct thread.

I wish I could make a poll insted of this thread. If anybody makes one Id appreciate it.

As prospectous out now for september courses,I was just juggling between itec and vtct.
Personally i like the idea of assesment rather than exams,so Id prefer vtct and one bonus point its got 2 additional units i.e ear piercing and tanning..

But the main prob is,in my local college its 9am-9pm course!so childcare is a big issue! And i really dont know how will i cope 12 hours.

And if i choose Itec it would be 2 days a week and childcare isnt a problem, but my only concern with this is EXAMINATIONS!! I am not afraid of it but just wondering how hard is this and did any boday fail?

so guyz just need your honest opinion about

1. What did u study itec/vtct?
2. How were the exams /assesmants?
3. How many hours a week did u spend doing homework?
4. If you runs a salon who would u prefer Itec qualified or vtct qualified beauty specialist?
5.And if you have any regrets regarding the course .

many thanx for you time and I hope this thread would be beneficial for everybody who is confused about what to choose.

Hi Beauty Diva

I am currently studying for ITEC Beauty Specialist.

My colleagues have taken their theory exam and said it was not as bad as they thought it was going to be. All multi choice questions. Their practical exam is on Monday 7/7. Our tutor has said that it is very rare for someone to fail and if they do there are re-sits in the winter. Unfortunately I haven't been able to take part in these as have been unwelll and due to have an operation end of July. Luckily though if I get well in time I can take it when they have re-sits in the winter.

Each component of the course also have case studies, five studies for each section. For example five for man/ped, five for waxing, and so on.

The homework is not too bad, you just have to be disciplined with your case studies.

I'm lucky I chose to do the ITEC as it is held at a college literaly down the road and also I wanted a qualification that is recognised worldwide as eventually my husband and I want to live abroad. I do not know whether the VTCT is recognised abroad, but then you may wish to stay in this country.

Tanning and piercing can always be taken independantly once you have completed the course.

We are lucky in my area as my college also offers ITEC units to be taken such as the waxing module separately. They do this on a yearly rota so mums can attend college and eventually over two years still gain their ITEC certificate. I wonder if your college can offer you this option.

Good luck with your choice x

Thanx for your advise nailedon!

come on guyz plz help me in here !

I've just finished my NVQ Level 2 which is VTCT, and we had to do exams for every module. It was a mix of assessments and exams which I thought was a good way to go.
