Hi All - I am starting a salon in London. The salon will be focusing on being price competitive and as such we are looking for affordbale products. We want to offer facials obviously and looked at Dermologica but that is three thousand eight hundred pounds to set up! They make you buy one of each product for retail even though we don't plan to retail products. We really want an alternate facial skincare system. We have been speaking to Le Club who offer a starter for £300 but we have not heard of them. I also have found a pro starter kit for £459 from Skin Truth they look really nice and have good reviews plus quite natural. Does anyone have any experience of this product or have a good quality affordable product they can recommend? xxx

Hi, I'm intrigued to know why you don't want to retail products if you are setting up a salon. I would have thought that would be a big part of your profit.

I think you'll find Skintruth doesn't have a good name if you read through some of the posts here. It is a very basic range that's made in-house by one of the big wholesalers - can't remember which one though (Salon Systems?).

I agree that Dermologica are expensive to take on. Why not look at Eve Taylor as they are very competitive, lovely products and there is no minimum order. Their customer support is also very good.

Good luck.

Beautylab is the brand I went with recently. I got a great tailormade salon package, but they do standard starter packs too. I'm new to facials really, having never really done any from college. The feedback I've had has been great, for both technique and products really. Their customer support is good, and their posters/brochures etc are lush. That always helps. Its a fairly unknown company it seems, up and coming, I think its fab. Reasonable retail pricing too, I know you aren't too fussed about retail, but you might be tempted. A lot of geeks recommend moorspa, what about looking into that? I can only give an opinion on the one I use, but i know it gets mention, a lot! There is a moorspa geek on here too. Best to get samples from the companies you are interested in and compare them all first. hth x x
