Hi,

I thinking of using a computer program to store my clients details on, but I don't want to break any data protection rules. From what I've read, am I right in thinking that I have pay £35 and register with the ICO?

Am I allowed to transfer the, existing, details from my (paper) client record cards to a PC or do I have to ask each client first and get their permission?

Regards
Jes

I spoke with the ICO just recently & as long as the details are for your own personal use & will not be given out to any 3rd party then you don't need to register.

You don't necessarily need their permission to store their details on computer.
