I don't understand the sizes. Is it the length of the blades? What's the difference in buying a 5 as to a 7 (for example)? Can someone be so kind as to enlighten me, please? Never thought to ask in college. Thank you!
 
Hi, it's the size of the blade. It's all down to personal preference. I love my 5.5s.
Normally the bigger the blade the less 'snips' you would need to do. Although I find the bigger the blade the more clumsy I feel!
I would say start with the size you feel most comfortable with and then start to increase the size as you get more experienced.
Just my personal opinion xxx
 
Scissors are measured in inches so 5 inch is 2 inches smaller than 7 inch. I use 5 inch cos they feel comfy for me :)
 
I prefer longer blades I use a 7 I find they give a really clean cut and great for personalising x
