So my deal when I start in my new salon, is that they get 20% of my earnings instead of me paying weekly rent. But if tax with hmrc is 20%, how do I make money if 40% doesn't even go to me? I'll be supplying all my own products. First time paying commission insteAd of a flat rate, so bit worried

You will be paying tax on the money you have earned after your outgoings. Your rent counts as an outgoing x

And tax is only 20% on profit.
Only 20% rent is lower than the usual so I think you have a good deal there.

Wow I'm daft, thank you :)

Wow, 20% is really low for a percentage split. I can second the fact you've got a good deal

Wow 20% commission, that's a real bargain. Lucky you! :)
Lots of hairdressers pay 40% as standard with some paying 60% if the products are supplied.

Good luck in your new salon. Sounds like you're off to a good start.
