Hi ladies.

Can I ask a bit of advice please.
I have just been offered to work self employed on set days at a salon, 50% and a small charge for using their stock.

She wants me to invoice for the treatments I do, the question is do I also charge for my time being there as some days I probably won't have much booked in, she has control over bookings and the clients are hers. Does this make me basically an employee.

Any advice would be great

That makes you an employee and what she is suggesting is basically illegal.

I thought as much. I thought about invoicing for the times I am there, minimum wage

Oh that doesn't sound great as you’ll probably be classed as an independent contractor in those circumstances. The salon owner is either clueless or (more likely) dodgy.

I recommend you either be fully self employed managing your own clients, taking their monies directly and paying rent to the salon owner (or percentage split) or be fully employed.
