Shadowing in side walls?

Hi Geeks
I have been reading alot of your posts and I have noticed that many of you talk about shadowing around the side walls? I have never heard of this before and was wondering if you can tell me what it is? Thanks

:irked: just so you all know....i'm not a hobby nail tech...i am fully qualified and work in a salon....
i have just never heard of shadowing....perhaps i already know what it is but i know of it as a different name??????
i was just hoping for some clarification...

The only shadowing I can think of on sidewalls would be lifting.
