Shellac and Gelish ragged sidewalls

Hi can anyone shed some light on why I'm experiencing ragged edge sidewalls with shellac and gelish. I know it's down to me, but can't figure out why sometimes my application is fine and other times it seems ragged with little bobbly bits, so annoying.

I used to find this and for me it was all down to my base coat which really is the most important layer. If that goes on unevenly at the side walls you'll never get the colour perfect.
