CND recommend you use the CND UV Lamp to cure CND Shellac..... These are your manufacture instructions, not sure if everyone's aware but if you don't follow the manufactures instructions it invalidates your insurance!

Also as so,some amazing explained the difference between UV and LED light and the video above, any other lamp other than the CND UV Lamp will not sure CND shellac fully.

Yes it might look ok and not chip etc but unless you have X-ray vision how can you see what's under that surface layer??? How do you know there's not uncured product?? You don't and they probably is!!!!

My main concern from not using the correct lamp isn't just you could get chips is you will have uncured product on the nail.... So what do this mean...?? One thing ALLERGIC REACTION!! Soo your potentially giving your self and/or your clients an allergic reaction but your invalidating your insurance by not following manufactures instructions!!

Now is it really really worth it????

This is what separates US 'the professionals' from people that buy products of eBay and 'do nails' at home!

I have both CND and gelish lamps. I have never tried putting either in each others lamps. However, I have noticed that Shellac bottles now say colour coat not UV colour coat like they used to... Makes me curious as to if they are going to bring out an LED lamp at some point. X

They've said for a couple of years that is their goal and are working on an LED lamp, we just wait patiently for it lol

I heard at and seminar last November that the led lamp is coming out this year (from what I remember). The woman in charge of ordering said she's seen the pictures and already placed the opening orders. Very cool!!

It's amazing how many Chemists there are working as NT :D

The UV lamp is an essential part of the gel chemistry. When developing a new gel, the chemist either has to match the gel to the UV lamp they already sell, or develop a new UV lamp to match the new gel.

Just because a standard UV lamp may output UV in the wavelength range from 350nm to 400nm, the light output is not flat over that range. There will be a peak of UV "illuminance" (energy) somewhere in that range and the photo initiator used in the gel has to match to obtain optimum curing. The same situation occurs for LED UV lamps between 390nm and 410nm.

It's nigh impossible for a NT to test if a product has fully cured. A 50% cured gel will appear cured on visual inspection. To determine if a gel has really cured you need to test the hardness using specialist equipment (there are several possible cured tests but all involve laboratory equipment).

If you take 10 UV lamps and test each of them using the same amount of the same gel, all will show different levels of curing. Not all 1000cc car engines have the same fuel efficiency or power output - as most people know it all depends on the design. It's no different for UV lamps.

If a company try to tell you that their UV lamp will cure all gels, they are either being deceitful to make more money or they are wilfully ignorant. In either case, I personally would not touch them with a bargepole.

Something about Bob Swedens reply tells me he knows what he is talking about!

Yup, Bob knows his stuff!! I just hope that people are listening.

I would love to see that video made once again using a colour from a recent collection. I reenacted that video using a colour pop and got a very different result to that video. ;-)

I did try curing shellac in my gelish lamp when my CND lamp blew up but it doesn't last very long so it's best to use the CND lamp for shellac. Hth x
