Skin allergy?!?!

Is it possible for the skin at the bottom of my finger to suddenly become allergic to a ring, even though I have been wearing it for the past nine months and it has been cleaned-in case that was the prob?

Sometimes I get like a heat rash in summer where my rings are. It's usually from being sweaty and the ring rubbing the skin and it not drying out properly. Just take the ring off for a few days till it clears up, put it back on and usually it fixes the problem.
