Last night I did a manicure on a client, 2 nails were broken so I put tips on with L&P but her thumb nail was long and she had caught it and it had split half way down her nail from the left edge to the center of her nail bed! If it had ripped right across it would have bled. Anyway she was happy for me just to put polish over it even though there was a visible line.

What I want to know is did I do the right thing or could I have put L&P over it so I had a smooth finish to polish or might it have stung a bit? Any advice please

No replies!! I only want to know if I did the right thing! Please :)

I have written a small turorial on how to repair a split nail with fiberglass.........

but you can substitute this with L&P.... just apply a small amount of resin in the split, press it together, when dry buff gently and overlay with L&P just like you would with a natural nail overlay using L&P..... build up the apex area so that you have a sound structure......
the enamel on its own will only hold repair on this, on a temp basis and will split as soon as she knocks it a little...............

had she freshly split the nail?

if it'd been a day or two it shouldn't sting. my thumbs split vertically, so I keep L&P on them if not on any other finger.

and I learned how to from Nailsinlondon1's tutorial

Thank you now I know!
