Starting out

Hi all
I am currently starting on a nail course!
I wondered what people recommend using?
My sister uses shellac and calgel, however shellac doesn't last on my nail but calgel does. Is there something different that seems to work/last on most peoples nails? Etc

Have u tried gelish? I tend to find some clients who's nails or lifestyle doesn't suit shellac get on great with gelish
