Hi
I have just started sugaring and wondered if anyone could give some advice as to the best brand to use? My hands do get very warm so I quickly find the sugar becomes unworkable - anyone have any tips aside using a bucket of ice!. Also when using strip sugar I have found that I can only use the strip once as it becomes very sticky - is this normal, as I know with waxing you can use the same strip many times? I would be grateful for any advice on the subject of sugaring.
Thanks

I don't do hand sugar waxing so cant help you there.
With the strip sugar you need to spread it very thin(getting the right temperature here is the key) and get it off quite quick.I only do one lady but find it is better if i put it on in smaller patches than you would ordinary wax and get it off quick, otherwise it almost melts onto the leg.You could try good quality paper strips rather than muslin as it wouldnt soak in.
Im not sure many on the site use sugar so you may not have too many answers.

Hi Ya,

I use Moom strip wax on myself (MOOM (UK) Organic Hair Removal and skin care range) as I have super sensitive skin. Ive never found that the strip becomes that more sticky then with wax to be honest. As Gillian has said I think it maybe the temp that you are using it at.

Hi,
I am very interested to see you use Moom sugaring system. I have bought a tub to try out, I am waiting for my waxpot to arrive so haven't had chance to use it yet. Have you ever had any problems using it and how long have you been using it? Also do you use any before or after treatments as it says you don't need to. Do you use a regular wax pot to heat it up or microwave. If you use a wax pot do you empty it into the pot first and then keep heating it or put the pot in. The instructions weren't that specific on the tub. Sorry to ask you a hundred questions, but really want to get it right. Most of the treatments I am offering are using vegan products so Moom is the only hair removal system I have found that is eco friendly. Do you order directly from the company or through a wholesaler?

Thanks for listening! hope you can help. x

I do sugaring and sugar with strips. Tbh, more sugar with strips, because it's easier and many clients say it's more comfortable that way, because they dislike that feeling when you're spreading the sugar ball over the skin, and results are pretty much same.

I use much more strips with sugar than with wax, almost double as much, because the paste is thicker than wax and strip cannot take much off hair that way.

I don't know about brands mentioned here, in Croatia we can buy Pandhy's, Sessu and Alexandria. I make my sugar myself.

But many tech complained about the same like you: when it's hot, or your hands are hot, or the client is sweating too much, sugaring is impossible :irked: the paste becomes unworkable and sticky. I usually stop, wipe the clients skin and take a new ball of sugar. That's why I like it with strips more. Sugar can be applied thiner that way and it's all much, much faster. There are some clients who have such oily or sweaty skin, no matter how you prepare them, sugaring is hell with them :grr: so I recomend wax to them.

hth

i got sugared once, my hairs had to be so much longer than with waxing which i didnt like.:irked:

An interesting thing she said was that she made her own sugar paste from sugar, water and lemon juice!!!!duno if that was true, anybody tried this?

If you were reffering to me and my post, then yes, "she" does make her own paste and that is true. I got authentic recipe from my friend, the recipe is in her family for ages.

Btw, hairs don't have to be longer for sugar than for regular waxing.

I do both hand sugaring and strip sugaring but now only for legs as I have found hot wax much better for other areas, so I am a wax convert!

If you are a warm person like myself and the temperature outside is warm, the sugar paste is almost impossible to work with. I use Sukar however, I have found the Zhara is much more forgiving in warmer temperatures.

In terms of strip waxing, yes you do use more strips with sugar paste than with wax. The paste is a lot thicker, to have it the sort of consistency as wax would in my opinion make the paste too hot, which you don't want.

Try hot wax chicken, it is faberooney.

Oh btw sugar paste is made from sugar, water and lemon juice, nothing else.

Didn't mean to jump and bite... words don't have faces, so things get misunderstood.
