Hi geeks. I'm doing a tanning party later on and I've just realised I may not have enough 10 or 12% solution. I have loads of 8 and 14% so I will just mix them but what ratio of the 8 and 14 will I need to get 10 and 12%? I'm trying to work it out in my head but I'm a bit baffled. Xx

Right so you have a 8% and 14%.

If you use equal amounts of each, you add % numbers together and divide by 2 then you should be able to get % solutions as below:

8+14= 22/2= 11%

you could then make the following % from 11% you have just mixed:

11+8= 19/2= 9.5%
11+14=25/2= 12.5%

You can keep going but it can get confusing remembering whats been mixed with what! Personally i'd just mix an 11% and use that. HTH

You have to follow this formula to mix solutions:

8% + 14% = 22 ......... 22 / 2 = 11%

11% + 14% = 25 ....... 25 / 2 = 12.5%

You can mix as little or as much as you like but it must always be equal quantites so you could do 15ml of 8% + 15ml of 14% = 30ml of 11%

Then the 30ml of 11% + 30ml of 14% = 60ml 12.5%

You could mix more or less as long as you have equal amounts.

Hope this helps.

*Lil'Gem you were faster at typing & sending that post than me lol.
