I have just had a woman ask me to go and do some infills with white tips on nails she has had done in a salon. I asked her if she already had nails on and she said yes, so i told her that i would have to charge her extra to remove the nails as i have different products than the salons and also with starting on a blank canvas i can then she what condition her nails are in and if there are any infections, i know they are not from me. But she does not want to pay for that. I know i may be losing money or a new client, but i dont want to take on someoneelse mistakes because it is just extra work and problems for me. I know from colllege, we were told, you have to use the same products the whole nail through, so i dont know what product she has had on ( and i dont think she will either). Please can someone tell me if i have done the correct thing or am i just being picky.Because if she ends up with any kind of fungal infection under the enhancement, she will not know who to put the blame on.And i am not taking anyone elses blame.

if the nails look ok i would just infill them...

Hi Laura,

If you had a good look at the nails with the l&p on, done by this salon, you would be able to see if there was any bacterial infection (greenies) or a lot of lifting or pocket lifting which could contribute to infections. If all looked well then personally I would infill over the product. I have been in business over 4 years and have never found an l&p product to be incompatible with another and cause problems

But what would make me think twice is that she has had them applied at a salon and now wants you to do the maintenance. Why would that be? Is the salon more expensive and she is expecting you to be way cheaper? Or is she not happy with the work they did? If it's the latter then I would wonder why she isn't happy; could be just a shape thing, in which case it's easily rectified, but if it's more to do with lifting, you could have more of a problem, depending on how much.

I have "put to rights" some godawful nails on a few occasions and won loyal clients by doing so.

Good luck

Ok, thanks girlys. I was always led to believe that we could not use different products ontop of original products. I will know now for future ref. I think it has probably come down to a price thing. So by the sounds of it, i dont have to stick to the same product.
thanks ladies,:green:

You're very welcome

Is it the same for gels then? Can i use a different builder gel to the finishing gel ?
We were told at college to always use the same products for everything, if i had known this then i could have held onto my other powders & liquids. What a waste.

once the product has been cured which a old set will have done then at rebalance time its fine to use a different product. Whats not correct or safe is to mix one brands liquid to another brands powder. HTH x
