I had to tell you about a girl I met last night whilst having a meal out. The waitress was admiring my nails (which are Valericious nail graphix tips ) and saying "oh wow they are fab are they acryllic ?" to which I replied "yes I do them myself " feeling quite chuffed she then went on to show me her nails and said "I had a set done in town last week and they all just fell off " bearing in mind that she had them done in my local NSS salon I find this absolutely amazing as it takes me blooming ages to remove them if anyone comes to me with them on! I wish they would just fall off ! but I have to say if she did have them on last week her nails didnt look too bad and when I asked her if they filed her nail plate down before applying the product she said "No" I think she must have had the new trainee or something! Anyway to cut a long story short I gave her my card and spent all evening thinking how did they fall off ????????? I will have to wait and see if she calls me. But if the NSS just fall off what will she do to mine ????

hmm a new client of mine told me hers fell off.. after some specialised questions I learnt from fellow geeks, I found out she had mown the lawn and spilt petrol all over her hands..:eek::eek:
So while she said to me they fell off.. (implying it was my/the products fault) I managed to find out what really happened.. and have to wonder why you would pay to have nails on, if your not going to protect them? Normally i would have felt awful and at fault.. but as soon as i said that i would need her to bring in the tips so i could get them sent off for analyzing ("I dont want to be offering a product that doesnt work love") ...she came clean! (PS i stole that from a geek in the know :))

Littlegorhl That is a fantastic way to get them to fess up to doing something. That is the hardest thing i ever learnt over the years, was to have enough confidence to say they don't just fall off!! What have YOU been doing while wearing them. I for one would not pay for nails and then not look after them!! God knows why most clients don't protect them as they would protect 30 squid in their purse.:)

Well I'm glad to heat that seasoned professionals get that too!! I'm almost almost qualified (just need to do the 5th day of my course with creative when they get back on track), and while I've been training and practising on friends and family, one or two have said that they "just fell off". Obviously I thought it was me doing them wrong, and since then have prep'd every "client" to within an inch of her life!! Since then I have found out that one whose nails "just fell off" actally bit them off when I refused to rebalance them because she had agreed to be my rebalance model, and I needed her to wait until the assessment day, so they all then miraculously fell off within 24 hours. The other one whose nails fell off later admitted that they fell off within an hour after she had been using a steam stripper all day to remove her wall paper. I'm glad to say that many others have said that their nails have been ace, and that they would have been happy to pay the going rate in a salon for them, and I've done my daughters which have stayed put despite all the texting and playstation action. I think when i start to charge for my service I will just need to remember that, as long as you prep well, nails dont just fall off, there's a reason behind it, and you dont need business at any price, if you lose a client because you wont replace free of charge, then those are clients that you just dont need.

I know when I first started out I had a couple clients that used that old excuse. Boy did I Fret trying to think of what I had/hadn't done to cause this:confused: After a few times of this I "fired" them telling them it would probably be better if they went somewhere else since I couldn't keep them on them. I've since learned it wasn't me, that these particular clients are horrible with their nails (pickers/gardening w/no gloves etc. etc.) so now I don't beat myself up

Oh yes, "they just fell off" one of mine said . . . funny how it was only a few on one hand . . .

Then she mentioned decorating and washing brushes out in methylated spirits WITHOUT any gloves on :eek:

There you go then love. . .
