Tone base without losing highlights

I coloured a clients hair , natural hair was base 5/6 with level 8&9 in foils, whole head, which she loved then I wanted to lighten her base 1 level to brighten up with 7.31 majereal 20 vol, but it went a little gingery , she must have ready undertones, what can I use to knock the base orangey colour without loosing the highlights, I was thinking 9.02 dia light but would this be enough to knock out the orangey tone ?

I would maybe do 8.2 the .1 has violet ash which is best for yellow tones the .1 is blue ash best for orange tones x

Thanks went with 7.02 looked good just neutralised colour, just what i wanted, do you know about the majirel mix colours, all new to me did my colour keys years ago,
