Hi,

I am still learning here so this question may seem really obvious. My client is a natural ash blonde with lots of highlights; she wants to tone down a little with lowlights. I use koleston and matched her natural colour at 9.1, do you think lowlights using 8.1 would look ok?
Thanks Su

That should be fine providing the highlights are not too white, otherwise the 8-1 may go slightly too ash.

:)

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Her highlights are light but not white. What could I do if it did go too ashy?
Thanks
Su

In my experience, if it goes too ashy there's not much you can do except add warm tones to neutralise the ash. But obviously thats no good if your initial aim was to achieve the cool ash tones. However, it would eventually fade out a little.
Just keep an eye on the hair during the development time.

If her bleached hair is pale golden blonde it should be fine.

It normally goes too ash if the bleached hair is damaged/porous with no gold tones in the hair.

:)

Hi,

That's really helpful, thank you.
