I'd be interested to hear too because I hadn't actually heard of that look until you mentioned. Is this the look you're after but with Gel Polish? If so, it looks really nice.
This site has instructions for I think standard nail polish but interested to hear if this is the look you're after

I dont actually think it looks too camouflagy, I like the effect.
