Hi Geeks, Im new on here :) posting for abit of advise as im in abit of a state:sad: and really need some "good" advice, ok here goes, in september i had a weave fitted on micro rings ( metal) by a shop in my hometown only cost £90 had never had extensions before so didnt really know what was what , anyway they became itchy which i was told they would be until they settled, anyway few weeks later they started to drop on the 1 side , i then went to another shop in my home town , who moved them up for me!!! anyway i heard there was a mobile extensionist in my area and she had a good rep ive seen her extensions and they are really good (not like my horse hair :( ) so i gave her a ring and asked if she would take mine out and replace with what she does(micro ring and pre bond) shie came out lastnight to give me a consultation and to remove my weave! before she even started to take them out she said i was bald in places and they looked tight ! she seemed horrifed but not as horrified as i was when she took them out she was showing me that sections of my hair were already out when she undid the rings she said they were held on by strands she questioned me about aftercare etc and i said i wasnt offered any , which i wasnt!!! anyway i asked if i could have her fit some new ones on pre bond!!! :( she said no as the stress to my already damaged hair would be worsened omg!!! my hair is a mess and i really want extensions!! will all extension specialists say the same??? the baldness which she said was traction alopecia is about 1cm in width and there are 3 places on my scalp missing hair that width!! i just want to know if its worth going to another shop or taking her advice :((( please give me some advise

my advice is take there advice =]
do disrespect but are you going to go shop to shop till someone tells you what you want to hear?

let your have a rest and go from there go back to the people that said no to you, because they sound like they know what their talking about to me.

if they just wanted your cash they would have done it regardless of the consequences..

Totally agree with this post x

Time to give your hair and scalp some TLC . Gently massage your scalp once a day . You can do this when washing ( with a decent shampoo) or with a blend of carrier and essential oils.
Take care when brushing and concentrate on looking after your scalp to create the best environment for regrowth. Hopefully the damage wont be permanent and the hair will regrow .
DONT have more extensions yet give you hair and scalp a break.

Have you thought about hair extensions which hang on a wire - like flip in hair and halo also do them. Instead of clips they hang on a thin wire - that would give your hair a rest and give it chance to recover, then you can try again with the hair extensions.

I tried flip in but struggled to get a colour match. Or, you can make your own.

i would say the same thing! dont get more put in - your hair isn't ready. Look after it and let your scalp and hair recover.

take the advice given from the technician. On a more serious note, did the inital salon ask you to fill in a consultation or produce any paperwork regarding your fitting?? If they are qualified they will be insured and I would now certainly go back and speak to them about the damage they have caused to your natural hair from fitting incorrectly. I know some people just don't want the hassle, but in this industry there are so many bad technicians "getting away with it" because people don't complain!"!!! It simply isn't fair or just on the professionals out here. This infuriates me, and I know it will others. Your hair certainly needs a rest!! In the meantime look for a technician who comes recommended. I would suggest you go for single stranded extensions next time, they give far better weight distribution throughout your natural hair. I'm just sad for you that an incompetent technician seems to have shot your option of extensions at the moment, but will back up what has been said above, any reputable technician should not fit to your hair in its current condition xxx

thank you for the advice, i will not be getting them done, the shop i had them done at didnt make me sign anything so im not sure where i stand!!!! im really upset over the whole thing my hair is a mess, wish id looked into it more before i jumped in as i have heard alot of people say that the best ones to have are single stranded bonds :( does anyone knw how long it will take until i can get extensions again?also what would be the best thing to treat my hair and scalp right now? as i just want to get them in good condition again , again a big thank you to you all for the advice:hug:

it is the salons/technicians responsibility to ensure a consultation is done on all clients, just like a beauty salon would, or if you were having your hair coloured in a salon for the first time. Reputable technicians will be insured so if there is ever a problem and a client came back to me I wold give my insurance details. They would then contact you to pursue the claim. I would take photographs of the damage and go back to the salon asking them what they are willing to do about it as you have it from another professional that the damage is due to their ill fitting. If they offer to re-fit, please say no!!!! And if they don't give any reasonable solutions contact trading standards who will be able to advise you how to pursue this. The only problem I can see with this, reading back through the initial post is that I am unsure when the damage has occured but feel if your hair was still in tact when they slipped, it may be the fault of the salon who re-positioned the extensions by doing so too tightly xx I would give your hair a good six months for the regrowth to come through, although some clients hair does grow faster than others so you may want to check the suitability again in 4 months. xx
