My sister is wanting to start doing beauty so we can start working together. I did my NVQ 2 and 3 at college which took 2 years. But i was wondering if anyone has done any courses that allow you to train any quicker and if they were any good? She also doesn't want to be spending to much money...
Thanks

I think you will spend a lot more on doing short courses compared to college/longer courses. Also in a lot of cases to a much lesser standard than doing the longer course!!How would you feel if your hairdresser told you she trained in 2 weeks??Its not a nice thought really is it?Personally think about how hard you trained and why you took two 2 yrs to train, its because it's a tough course, lots of A&P and H&S not to mention the actual treatments.Do you really feel your sis would be as good as you if she did the fast track option?

Hi, I've almost come to the end of my beauty therapy course and its a distance learning one which i started this January. You are given study booklets and after you have studied them you do the assignments, one by one. They are marked and sent back to you with feedback. This is an accredited course(accreditation by society of holistic therapists and coaches) where you can get insurance once you pass the course. It cost me around £291 and you can take upto a year if you wish. But, you have to gain practical experience yourself. It is offered by stonebridge associated colleges.

Personally i would recommend a year/2 year course at a college.
I have done 6 short courses, aswell as studying for a year at NVQ2 at college.
The short courses are a great (but expensive) way of getting into the industry quicker and no studying and long assignments, but you don't learn as much as you would on an intense college course.
I agreee with the post above, would you like someone who trained yesterday waxing you? or if you heard she trained in half a day would you still have your eyelashes tinted?
