I have been trying to improve as a nail in the fact that I took a course EN acrylic's. But to be honest after doing this course I felt I hadn't learnt half of whats required to be a nail tech, so been looking about to futher myself with some hands on courses.

But what I have noticed is a lot of so called professionals are very under educated..for exampple I was looking to do a mani/pedi course and found a good place which was saying how good it was plus is was the guild reconised, but then it went on to say how acrylics damage your nails and are a passing trend. Also I have been peeping at other Nail technicians web sites and found a lot that are only offering gel telling people that acrylics L&P(I assume as gel is acrylic) damage nails!

Now my point is we all know that L&P does not damage nails, do you find that this is what you come up against even from professionals in the business>?
I find it so annoying that these people are supposed to be trained/ training people or techs going around giving false facts out, I mean it's hard enough to educated the public that L&p doesn't damage nails without the professionals doing it as well.

Well the fact is that these people are not professionals as they only know about one system and say anything to get people to believe in what they are doing and the choice they have made.. they are undereducated and try to capitalize on that .. but to call themselves professionals ... they are not. Do not dignify them with that name.

A true professional knows how to offer every choice and until you do, you cannot claim to be a complete professional ... end of story. One has to work towards being a complete professional. Anyone who offers only one system with no plans to offer others is a fool. Would you go again and again to a restaurant that only offered one dish? Of course not. My aim was to never turn anyone away no matter what they requested and I NEVER HAVE.

Yes I agree

But it doesn't say a lot for our industry does it really, that most of it is based on lies and wrong information to sell thier services or products.
Does it not annoy you that they behave this way?, it bugs me but then I supposed it's like you said you have to offer everything and be a knowlegeable professional.
I think I'm going to put a myth/fact and info page on my website to educated the public to these things as they don't seem to know the difference between right and wrong or much about nails at all.

Good professionals have been educating the public for years and many do know allot about nails but as in any profession there are allot more mediocre or just plain bad nail technicians than there are great ones.

Frankly, no, I do not waste my energy worrying about the mediocre or the bad .... I have always concentrated on my business and made sure that I did the right things and gave the right information.
