UV Gel Colours alternative??

Hi Guys

I was wondering if rather than using gel colours, if i could use normal coloured nail varish and then lay clear gel over the top & then cure as normal.
Would this have the same effect and still be as shiny as coloured gels?

I think the general opinion is that a finishing gloss would be better, but i could be wrong! I've got Star Nail GF21 Quattro on mine at the mo and it's worked great!

You mean using finishing gloss over the normal nail polish rather than a coat of clear gel?

Hi saffron - yes. its something to do with the gel not sticking to the polished surface because its shiny.

Thats saves me some money in investing a whole new set of coloured gels when i have loads of coloured normal nail polish!!

But something that alot of geeks do is mix a small amount of clear gel & polish together and apply it like a coloured gel. I've tried it myself on my toes and it lasted months - in fact i took it off last week and it was still in tact - no lifting at all. Just take care not to change the consistency of the gel you're adding to.

Not sure i'd do it on a client without telling them and explaining it may not last! :lol:
