UV gel & hard gel advice

I’m signed up to do a gel nails course & I need to buy my own kit. They have said to get UV gel or hard gel... I’m not sure what to buy or what is what yet?!
I currently use halo gel polish & have their lamp, do I have to use halo UV gel or hard gel or can I use another brand?

I would be slightly wary of any course that doesn't stipulate a gel kit to buy, every gel brand works and feels differently so selecting one is tricky!. However to keep things cost effective i would stick to using the Halo gel as you already have their lamp.If at a later date you wish to change brands then its ideal to do a conversion course. There is a good pinned thread as to why you dont use the same lamp for all brands.
